Game trailer sound design Reel

These are sound design excerpts from some of our favorites game trailers. The most important factor in sound designing a game trailer is staying true to the game itself. Of course, game trailers are often seen before a game is released, meaning the viewer has no existing familiarity with how it sounds. But if someone watches a trailer for a game they’ve played a thousand times, it should evoke the authentic and familiar feeling of playing the game.

While game trailers lean heavily on sounds pulled directly from the game, there is still often room to thoughtfully expand on the sound design. For example, foley moments might be recorded for the actions of characters, or existing sounds might be sweetened to give the trailer more cinematic weight. The key is taking these fantastical worlds and making them feel immersive, believable, and inviting.
